Warm Spell has Trees Ahead of Schedule, Vulnerable to Early Frost

Rod Farrow, co-owner of Lamont Fruit Farm in WaterWATERPORT -- The buds are bursting on apple and fruit trees in orchards throughout New York. The process is about two to three weeks early and growers fear more unseasonably warm temperatures will lead to blossoms in April, making this year's fruit crop vulnerable to an early frost.

ALBANY, NY - The New York State Senate today passed legislation (58-0) known as the New York Restaurant Lending a Helping Hand Act, introduced by Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine, which would allow restaurants to make good faith donations of leftover food to charitable organizations without the threat of liability.
