WASHINGTON — The immigration reform package negotiated by Sen. Charles E. Schumer and other Senate leaders gives undocumented immigrants working on farms a chance to gain legal status — a provision long sought by farm groups but which remains politically dicey with public opinion strongly against illegal immigration.
The immigration measure announced last week includes an "Ag Jobs" bill that has languished in Congress for a few years but which Mr. Schumer, D-N.Y., and other supporters are counting on to secure votes from farm states.To view the rest of the story click on the following link:

Authorities said more than 80 cows have been killed in a barn fire at a northern New York dairy farm.
Fire officials in Jefferson County said the blaze broke out around 10 p.m. Thursday in a barn at Young Farms in Evans Mills, just outside Fort Drum, 75 miles north of Syracuse.
