    This past winter, Tim Jones had reached the end of his endurance in his 18-year fight with the Adirondack Park Agency to be able to use the fishing cabin he built on the Raquette River in Tupper Lake.

    He had spent tens of thousands of dollars on lawyers and gone through court hearings and administrative hearings and APA hearings.

  • Cornell Offers Two New Apples

    Move over Honeycrisp, there's a new apple in the basket. Cornell University has licensed a new industry group, to grow and market two new, patented apple varieties developed by Susan Brown at Cornell's Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva.

    One variety recalls the juicy snap of its Honeycrisp parent, but the trees produce more reliably and the fruit stores well.

  • SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan Deadline in New York is June 1

    ATLANTA - (Business Wire) The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small businesses that June 1 is the filing deadline for federal economic injury disaster loans available in declared counties in New York. The SBA declared a disaster as a result of excessive rain and below-average temperatures that began on May 16, 2009. The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program offers loans up to $2 million with a 4 percent interest rate for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and most private non-profit organizations of all sizes.
