ALBANY -- Gov. David Paterson's office is working on a new bill to permit the state to loan the New York Racing Association $17 million to $25 million.
The measure is designed to permit NYRA to run the summer meet in Saratoga Springs and pay bills for the now-imperiled Belmont meet that starts next month, the governor's aides said Tuesday. Cow manure could provide power for computing centeAmerica’s dairy farmers could soon find themselves in the computer business, with the manure from their cows possibly powering the vast data centers of companies like Google and Microsoft. While not immediately intuitive, the idea plays on two trends: the building of computing centers in more rural locales, and dairy farmers’ efforts to deal with cattle waste by turning it into fuel.

John Ameroso at a farm he started on Governor’s IsJOHN AMEROSO didn’t hoe the rows of vegetables that help feed the Bronx at the Padre Plaza Success Garden in the borough’s Mott Haven section. He didn’t pick any tomatoes from the vines at the Brooklyn Rescue Mission’s farm. And he didn’t turn the composting bins that kept East New York Farms! fertile ground for collards, cilantro and chard.
