BYRON -- The big leaves crunch as Jim Starowitz works his way through a field of cabbage on Tower Hill Road.
The plants are growing well, ahead of schedule, and they are robust. Starowitz lifts the 18-inch long leaves on the cabbage, a variety called Bajonet. He inspects the leaves and the heads of cabbage.
