  • Negotiate a Settlement in Mott's Labor Dispute

    By James Allen

On behalf of the New York Apple Association Inc., the grower-supported trade organization that represents more than 700 New York state apple growers, we are concerned about the current labor dispute at the Mott's plant in Williamson.

New York state apple growers have been committed to producing the finest apples for Mott's for more than 150 years, dating back to when Samuel Mott started his small cider and vinegar company bearing his name. Apple-growing in New York state has now grown to become the second-largest apple producing state in the U.S and the Mott's brand is a market leader.

etitioners purchased two acres of property for the purpose of operating a “farm winery” which was originally located three miles away in a neighboring town.  The Town building inspector denied the application for site plan approval, because part of the proposed operation was considered a “retail business,” which was not one of the allowed uses within the zoning district.
