Business planning for horse farms topic of Feb. 27 workshop

Business marketing, recordkeeping, and tax management for horse farm businesses will be the focus of a workshop from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 27 at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, 50 W. High St., Ballston Spa, NY.
Full – and part-time horse breeding, boarding and training businesses will be discussed.
The workshop is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County and its initiative CCE Equine, which provides workshops and one-on-one assistance to horse farm owners in business management, marketing, pasture maintenance, equine health, and more.

•“It’s a Horse of a Different Color: Marketing Your Equine Business,” Bruce Sowalski, Direct Impact Associates
•“How to Keep the Government Happy: Financial and Tax Management,” Jeff Perry, NY Farm Net
CCE Equine and NY Farm Net are supported in part by the NY Farm Viability Institute, a farmer-led nonprofit that awards grant funds to applied research and outreach projects that help farmers improve profitability. The Institute received funds from the NYS legislature and Department of Agriculture and Markets.
